Yacht Dates: August 27 to September 4, 2026
MV Oceania: $5,200*
Located at the far end of the planet and one of the world’s bucket list dive destinations- remote, raw and exotic Papua New Guinea is beckoning!
We’ll be exploring the world-renowned Kimbe Bay, nestled in the Bismarck Sea off New Britain Island, right in the heart of the Coral Triangle. This remote and pristine marine ecosystem is legendary for its biodiversity—home to over 900 species of fish, 400 species of coral, plus sharks, pelagic fish, macro critters, turtles, and even whales and dolphins. Picture yourself drifting over some of the healthiest reefs on Earth, surrounded by vibrant life in every direction, in one of the most remote places in the world: Papua New Guinea.
The MV Oceania is a steel-hulled catamaran yacht offering a comfortable and intimate experience with just 16 spots available, including three queen-bed cabins. A well laid out dive platform, MV Oceania is the perfect size yacht for a small group of divers to share an unforgettable journey through one of the top tropical dive destinations on the planet.
To ease into island time and shake off the jet lag, I plan to arrive early and spend a few days at Walindi Plantation Resort, the gateway to Kimbe Bay. A 3-night full board stay with 6 dives ranges from $1,200–$1,600, depending on your choice of accommodation. Want to customize it? You can add or subtract dives, go birding, visit local volcanoes and hot springs—the options are as exciting as they are flexible.
After the liveaboard, I’m working on an optional add-on trip to explore the highlands of PNG, where we’ll meet iconic tribal communities and experience the unique wildlife and culture of this remarkable region. Details on that are still in the works—stay tuned.
